Jan, born in Bloomington, Indiana, has been singing and acting since she was 5 years old. In 1970, she became Miss Indiana and followed up that honor with appearances in regional and national commercials.
One of the highlights of her career was performing with the Grand Ole Gospel for two years with Rev. Jimmy Snow at the Grand Ole Opry. It was there she met Joe, to her surprise who was also from Bloomington. After Joe heard her perform "How Great Thou Art", he asked her to tour with him and sing. Five years later, they were married on the Grand Ole Opry stage.
